If you like mummies, and we know you do, don’t miss the Brooklyn Museum’s exhibit Soulful Creatures: Animal Mummies in Ancient Egypt. The first major exhibition on this topic, you’ll see 30 animal mummies — dogs, of course, and birds, reptiles, snakes, rodents and cats — plus more than 60 objects relating to the Egyptian ritual. Thursday, January 25: 4th Annual Joriad North American Truffle Dog Championship

The Joriad™ begins in the morning at the Lane County Fairgrounds Livestock Arena with a series of qualifying events where spectators can cheer on the teams as they race to search for hidden truffle-scented targets. This event is just the start of a full weekend of fun truffle events, such as cooking classes, a Grand Truffle Dinner, a two-day Truffle Growers’ Forum and the Eugene Fresh Truffle Marketplace. Saturday, January 27: Stars to the Rescue XXVII

The Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) saves dogs and cats whose time at public shelters have run out. Join host Tony La Russa and ARF for their annual fundraiser at 7 p.m. at the Lesher Center for the Arts in Walnut Creek, California.
