When a breeder cannot sell a young puppy, the future for that pup is often bleak. This frequently happens when dogs are born with defects or conditions that make them less desirable. When an all-white Siberian Husky named Casper turned out to have swimmer’s syndrome — a developmental deformity that keeps the animal’s legs splayed and makes it difficult to stand or walk — he was going to be euthanized.
Before that could happen, though, an acuscope biotechnician named Gina made it her mission to save Casper’s life. Upon bringing him to the vet, she was told that the puppy’s pulse was faint and his heart weak. He gave Casper very low chances of ever walking.
This only further inspired Gina to get to work. She immediately started him on acuscope sessions, which is a type of electrical muscle stimulation for the management of injury and pain. And after their first night together, with Gina sleeping next to him the whole time, they woke up to a whole new outlook for Casper. He began vocalizing and moving around. As seen in this three-minute PAWSitive video, he appears to have a new zest for life.
The progress he makes in just a few weeks is astounding. Casper goes from a limp and lethargic ball of fur to a running, jumping tail-wagger with a beautiful coat as white as snow. And to imagine anyone wouldn’t want this happy-go-lucky pup, well that’s just unbelievable.
