Riggins and His Human Hit the Trails With The Grrowler, a Travel Dog Bowl and Collar In One

I consider myself an expert on dog travel bowls. I realize it’s an unusual expertise, but after three-plus years of hiking with pups on a regular basis, it’s become my niche.

Here is what Riggins, my 11-year-old adventure dog, and I really like about The Grrowler, Rocky Mountain Underground’s new water bowl/collar:

  • Your dog carries his own water bowl. That’s right! There’s no need to attach it to your pack or person, as it doubles as a collar, keeping it always handy. Pair it with a doggie backpack, and your pup can carry everything he needs for your outdoor adventures.
  • It’s easy to open and has ample mouth access. There’s nothing worse than a travel bowl that folds into itself, leaving your poor pup to figure out how to open it back up to get water. The Grrowler easily unzips and offers a wide mouth for your dog to stick his snout in.
  • It closes securely. This water bowl won’t flop around, dripping leftover water all over your dog. The bowl zips up into a collar, making it mess free.

Check it out in action:

It’s a wide collar, so your dog’s neck has to be big enough to accommodate it. The Grrowler comes in small (11 to 15 inches long) and large (15 to 19 inches long). Like with all collars, make sure to keep your pup in sight while he’s wearing it, as any can get caught on branches and other pointy things on the trail.

The Grrowler is available on the RMU website for $39.99. It’s a great investment — and gift! — for an active pup.
