Isaboo is one lucky puppy. Not only did Rachael Ray adopt her 11 years ago, but the celebrity cook also created a pet food line with her in mind. Ray recently expanded her food line Nutrish to include DISH dry food with real, whole ingredients.

“When I look at Isaboo, I’m reminded of all of the folks who see their pets as family members. She is my daughter. I only want to feed her the best quality food,” she said.

Ray puts the same care into the birthday cake she makes her Pit Bull every year.

“She’s spoiled! I mash together ground beef, pork, barley, carrots, and bacon, and top the cake with roasted beets and cream cheese,” Ray said. “Isaboo is licking her lips by the time it comes out of the oven.”

The Emmy-winning TV host’s love of her dog extends to the breed. Ray regularly advocates for Pit Bulls and speaks out against their discrimination.

“There’s such a misconception around the safety of owning and living with a Pit Bull,” Ray said. “As we are a product of our environment, so is any animal. It has a huge effect on their demeanor. My Isaboo is incredibly loving and sweet. It makes me very sad that the mistreatment of this breed has shaped such a negative public view of them.”

Ray also supports U.S. shelter animals by directing Nutrish proceeds through the nonprofit Rachael’s Rescue, which has given more than $15 million to organizations such as the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, North Shore Animal League, and Best Friends Animal Society.

At that level of funding, many more dogs have become lucky puppies, just like Isaboo.
