2. The Dogs of Littlefield by Suzanne Berne

little

The well-to-do town of Littlefield, Massachusetts, seems perfect from the outside, with its great schools, sports-oriented community, and well-manicured properties. Sociologist Clarice Watkins comes to Littlefield to study what makes the town so great, but what she finds is disturbing: Someone is poisoning the town’s dogs. As she digs deeper to solve the mystery, Clarice meets the town’s eclectic dog owners and uncovers the dark side of suburbia.

3. Scents and Sensibility by Spencer Quinn

scents

This offbeat book is narrated by Chet the dog. It takes a little getting used to, but it’s an entertaining point of view — you might never look at your dog the same again! In this latest book in author Spencer Quinn’s popular Bernie and Chet series, private investigator Bernie and his trusty canine sidekick must solve the mystery du jour, and this time it’s a prickly one! When their elderly next-door neighbor is accused of illegal cactus smuggling, Bernie and Chet venture deep into the desert hoping to uncover the truth.

4. Rescuing Riley, Saving Myself by Zachary Anderegg

rescue

Recently released in paperback, this is the true story of a solo hiker who found a near-dead puppy at the bottom of a 350-foot canyon. Bringing the pup back up should have been impossible, but author Zachary Anderegg did it and, along the way, came to terms with personal demons that had haunted him since childhood. This is an incredible tale for any reader but particularly poignant for dog lovers. You will be hooked from page one.

5. Encounters With Rikki by Julie Strauss Bettinger

rikki
