I’m Obsessed With the Real Pet Food Subscription Box

Editor’s note: Have you seen the new Dogster print magazine in stores? Or in the waiting room of your vet’s office? This article appeared in our June-July issue. Subscribe to Dogster and get the bimonthly magazine delivered to your home.

My dogs love subscription boxes. So much so that I can’t open any package without Spot and Dolly crowding around to see what new toy or treat has come in the mail. And now we have a new favorite: Real Pet Food.

This box contains only single-ingredient treats and chews, air-dried to retain nutritional value and pathogen-tested to ensure safety. The company sources most ingredients in the U.S. — exceptions being those from Canada, New Zealand, and Australia — and preps them for canine consumption at its human-grade facility in San Diego.

Our first Real Pet Food box came with chicken liver (a Dolly fave), wild-caught yelloweye rockfish, beef backstrap (Spot’s top pick), green tripe, duck wings, and lamb ears. I was pleasantly surprised when Ruby Alexis Balaram, co-founder with Turk Sapta, said it was a typical box and cost just $35. She added, “We think it should be easy, convenient, and affordable to feed real food.”

Affordable, indeed! I could never get six bags of such high-quality treats for that price on my own. Visit realpetfood.com for more info.
