The best thing about Christmas morning is seeing your stocking stuffed full of goodies. After Santa has visited, all the stockings are much too heavy to rehang on the chimney with care. Instead, in our house, they are carefully placed on the floor. Of course, my pup, Riggins, has a stocking sitting right next to his human’s. Riggins knows which one is his and heads right to it to start ripping through the wrapping paper to get to his presents.
Here are a few items that either Riggins or I would love to see as part of our loot. I bet a dog or dog lover you know would, too.

Riggins hikes almost every day, and his paw pads show it. In fact, both Riggins and I have the tell-tale signs of outdoor labor! No one would mistake the two of us for royalty thanks to our calluses and scratches. Maybe some pad protector would help.

3. Dog Pop Fetch Toy

I don’t know any dog lover who wouldn’t want to see a picture of her pup each time she goes to reach for her phone. In fact, I bet there are a good dozen or so picture options available on that very same phone that could be used as phone skins.
Skinit.com offers custom phone skins, which you stick to your device, giving you protection without the bulk of a case. The site makes it easy to upload a picture from your phone, Facebook page, or Instagram.

5. Studio Scoop Dog Dish
I recently purchased one of these, and I couldn’t be happier with it. It’s perfect for someone too lazy to actually scoop kibble from a bag AND pour it into a bowl. Someone like me. Why go to all that work when you can just use the scoop as the bowl?
Wetnoz makes a Studio Scoop Dog Dish in sizes ranging from 1 cup to 5 cups. Riggins would prefer the largest scoop, but much to his dismay we use the 1 cup size, which is perfect.

6. Digital ID tag
World-recognized dog trainer and Dogster Magazine contributor Victoria Stilwell has partnered with PetHub to offer an exclusive premium digital pet-tag sporting Stillwell’s message “Kindness Is Powerful — Pass It On.”
Each dog tag has a unique QR code, which can be scanned by any smartphone, linking someone to your dog’s online profile. Of course, a phone number and a website are also available for those Good Samaritans who may not know what a QR code is.

Etsy seller Coach Potato Dog Knits designs, makes, and sells a unique twist on this classic must-have item. These poop bag holders are beautiful hand-knitted purses that attach to your dog’s collar. Now your dog can be in charge of carrying this extra load AND look fashionable doing it.

8. Dog Slobber hand sanitizer
Let’s face it: This product from Blue Q is just basic hand sanitizer, but its packaging makes it a must. Blue Q is known for its creative and often snarky products designed to make people giggle. Its Dog Slobber Hand Sanitizer just may be your hands’ new best friend!

9. In-between-bath spray
Riggins gets regular baths, but he also regularly rolls around in dirt that may or may not have held a dead critter earlier in the day. Of course, this would be fine if he hung out by himself outside, but he much prefers to be on my lap and, if possible, really close to my face. For pups like Riggins and their owners, a nice scented spray that can be used in between baths is great.
Eco Dog Care’s Simply Fresh is a wonderful all-natural option. Not only does it help your dog smell fresh, it also has ingredients to help your dog maintain a healthy, shiny coat. If that wasn’t enough, it also helps repel fleas and ticks.

10. Donation to a dog rescue
Supporting a local or national dog-rescue group is a great gift for any dog or dog lover. Most organizations have a way to donate on their website or Facebook page. Print out a copy of the receipt to put in the stocking as a notification that a gift was given in the recipient’s name!
