Admittedly, one of the hardest parts about living with pets is the constant battle to keep your home clean. From muddy floors to “nose prints” left on just about every window, things stay clean for about 0.0002 seconds. Now that autumn is in full swing, our current struggle (especially with 3 fluffy dogs) is the constant presence of leaves and pine needles in just about every crevice of our home. (In the summer, it was dirt and dust from our lawn-less backyard!) While the idea of getting our giant vacuum out 5 times a day in order to stay on top of things is, um, super appealing, I knew there had to be something better. Enter the new Dyson Animal cordless vacuum!
[Disclosure: Dyson sent us a V6 Absolute vacuum to try out. All views and opinions are our own.]
Like the other Dyson Animal vacuums, the cordless V6 Animal and V6 Absolute models are designed specifically to handle pet hair, dust, and dirt. What sets them apart, however, are the newly designed cleaner heads that simultaneously pick up large debris and super fine dust — we’re talking 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns. That’s really, really small.
What appeals the most to me, of course, is the convenience of a cordless vacuum. When Wrigley, Drogo, and Smash come running in with a trail of yard debris in tow, I can grab a light-weight V6 vacuum right then and there (that can actually handle the leaves, the fine dirt, and everything in between), before pine needles find their way into every corner of our home.
Another way the new V6 models are particularly fantastic for us pet people, is the ability to attach tools directly to the cyclone pack, in turn converting the vacuum into a super-powered handheld cleaner — perfect for dirt and fur-covered stairs, furniture, and car interiors! (Trips to the beach with Fido will no longer leave your car looking like a sandbox.)
Dyson V6 Animal and V6 Absolute cordless vacuums are available online from dyson.com or at most major retailers.
