10 Handmade Etsy Gifts for Dogs and Dog Lovers

At a loss for what to get the dogs and dog lovers on your holiday shopping list? Etsy is a go-to for me when I have a stocking to fill or need a gift to tuck under a tree. I’ve been an Etsy seller myself for nine years, and I love everything about the site, from the fact that items are handmade to the way I can customize a present.

Here are 10 of my favorite finds for the 2015 holiday shopping season, and while you’re picking up gifts for friends and family, find some items for yourself and your own furry friends.

1. Plaid dog coat/harness at Rockin Dogs & Cool Cats

What could be more festive than wearing red plaid during the holidays? This too-cute custom-made coat can be fitted for dogs and cats of all sizes, and it features a bow for girls or comes without one for boys. It also doubles as a harness for easy walks, making it perfect for chilly trips around the neighborhood to view lights and sing carols, or for just being festive at home.

2. Holiday Candy Cane Dog Tug Toy at Moo Tugs

Moo Tugs are toys I love to love. The dogs do, too. I grew up on a dairy farm, so the recycled milker tube is a fun reminder of my younger years. While cleaned and sanitized, it still retains a bit of the bovine scent, making dogs “udderly” happy. The handle on the end encourages a game of tug-of-war; but don’t be deceived by the rubber — this is an incredibly durable toy!

3. Dog treat jar at Lulu and Lucky’s

What dog owner doesn’t buy treats to dole out to good dogs? Having a stylish way to store those treats is a must. I love this one because of its simple design, clean look, and the fact that it can be personalized. It’ll coordinate with most decor styles, and you can choose both the breed as well as the pooch’s name. The dog will love this just as much as the human once he learns that the clink of the ceramic lid means treats. I’m guessing it’ll only take one treat to get there.

4. Customized tote bag at Tote Tails

I love tote bags and have a strong suspicion others do as well. I discovered Tote Tails earlier this year and am in love with my bag, pictured below with our French Bulldog Louie. I carry it everywhere and can attest to the durability and quality of the bag and design. If you can’t find the breed (or animal) of your choice, you can upload a photo of the pet, and Tote Tails will make a silhouette based on the profile. You can add multiple pets and even a logo. This is definitely a one-of-a-kind gift that will be much appreciated by anyone who receives it.

5. Peanut Butter Barkers at arcBARKS

We have a son with Down syndrome, so when I discovered an Etsy shop featuring treats made from scratch by chefs with special needs, I knew I needed to include these in my dog’s stocking. The North Carolina-based company is devoted to enriching the lives of those with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and in turn, pays it forward to dogs with peanut butter treats. It’s a win for everyone.

6. Striped Dog Teepee at Pipolli

When not snuggling on laps, dogs love their own space. What could be more adorable than a tiny teepee to call their own? This fun dog bed has a removable, washable pillow, and it folds up neatly to store in an included bag for travel. This is the perfect gift for both dogs and their people.

7. Personalized Pet Ornament at Bloomwood Originals

I love, love, love these ornaments! I’m always looking for unique mementos of my pets to decorate the tree, and this one is a win in many ways. You can put a photo on each side as well as a pet’s name at no extra charge. The image is printed directly onto the resin oval, so the photo won’t come off or wear with age, but will forever be a way to feature beloved pets in holiday decor.

8. Customized dog dishes at Cherry Tree Lane Design

Why do dog dishes need to be stainless steel and boring? They don’t, and I love adding fun to our home in unexpected places. These whimsical bowls can be customized with 25 different backgrounds in a choice of 27 colors, and you have many choices in the name font and style as well. No other dog will have a dish quite like the one you design as a gift for such a lucky pup.

9. Dog Scarf at We Find The Gifts

This super-cute oversized scarf can also be used as a shawl. It measures 37 by 73 inches and features black-and-white dogs on a lightweight polyester fabric. The gray background is a great neutral color to coordinate with so many outfits, no matter the recipient’s style.

10. Lounge Pants at Nic and the Newfie

All of the cold evenings ahead — to be spent in front of a roaring fire, sipping hot chocolate, and snuggling with a four-legged bestie — will require some seriously adorable lounge pants. Whether the person you give these to uses these for pajamas, yoga, or hanging around the house, the dog lover will be both comfortable and stylish. Many breeds are available.
