You might accuse your naughty dog of giving you gray hair, but he could just as easily say the same to you — as it turns out, stress might turn our dogs prematurely gray, too.
A study published in the December 2016 issue of the journal Applied Animal Behavior Science concluded that certain behaviors were indeed associated with young dogs (1 to 4 years old) going gray, including impulsivity (jumping on people, inability to calm down, hyperactivity after exercise), anxiety (destructive behavior when left alone or cringing/cowering in response to groups of people), and fear responses to loud noises and unfamiliar pets and people. The results were based on owner survey responses and looking at photos of the dogs in question.
